Code Enforcement

The Town of Talala works to keep properties safe and neighborhoods livable by enforcing ordinances on sanitation, weeds and trash, dilapidated conditions, and related nuisances. There is no dedicated Code Enforcement Officer; concerns are handled through Town Hall under the Town’s ordinances.

Compliance with Town ordinances

Town codes are meant to benefit everyone who lives and works here. Keeping properties maintained helps protect property values and reduces blight. Code enforcement addresses violations of Town ordinances — not private or civil disputes. HOA bylaws, property-line disagreements, neighbor fence disputes, and taste in paint colors are civil matters and are not handled as Town code enforcement.

Common property concerns

These are among the issues most often raised under Talala’s ordinances. Links go to the online code sections where available.

• Accumulation of trash, weeds, or grass — § 91.035, § 91.036, § 91.037

• Dismantled or inoperable vehicles stored as a nuisance — § 91.062

Process

The Town follows due process under Chapter 91. Depending on the situation, the Town may warn, post notice, or send a letter with a compliance date. Continued non-compliance may lead to further notices, abatement, recovery of costs or liens, or court remedies (see generally §§ 91.038–91.042). The Board of Trustees may designate who performs these duties. There is no dedicated Code Enforcement Officer on staff.
