Compliments / Complaints
We strive for continuous improvement. Not every contact with the public is pleasant, and not every outcome is the one you hoped for. That does not mean the contact was handled the wrong way.
An officer’s job is often to take charge of a situation. Being direct, giving clear instructions, and requiring compliance can sound abrupt. A firm command presence can be read as rude or overbearing when the moment is tense. We do not expect every interaction to feel friendly. We do expect every interaction to stay controlled, professional, and within policy.
If an officer treated you with courtesy, or handled a hard call well, we want to hear it. If you believe an officer or a policy fell short of the standard this town deserves, we want to hear that too. Compliments help us recognize good work. Complaints help us review our conduct and keep our practices in line with the people we serve.
Your feedback is part of how we stay accountable — not a request that the Department change the lawful outcome of a stop or a case.
