Tribal Citations
Citations issued to Tribal Citizens are enforceable through the Memorandum of Agreement with the Cherokee Nation. You have a court date listed along with a fine amount. If you have questions regarding your ticket, contact the Court Clerk at 918-553-5535. Tickets disposed of through the Municipal Court of Talala will be administratively processed pursuant to the MOA.
Memorandum of Agreement
The Cherokee Nation and the Town of Talala have a Memorandum of Agreement. It applies to Reservation defendants for offenses that would be Town municipal matters if committed by a non-Indian defendant. The MOA supports public safety cooperation within the Cherokee Reservation and the Town of Talala. It does not concede or confer jurisdiction. It establishes an administrative process under which Town peace officers, acting pursuant to a Cross Deputation agreement with the Cherokee Nation, may issue criminal citations to Indian perpetrators.
Bond schedule
The Cherokee Nation (Cherokee Nation Court) sets the bond schedule for tribal defendants. The Town of Talala / Talala Municipal Court does not set that bond schedule. Non-Indian defendants follow a separate schedule.
