Town of Talala named OMAG Sanitary Sewer System of the Year
The Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group (OMAG) recognized the Town of Talala’s sanitary sewer system as Sanitary Sewer System of the Year at the 2023 Sanitary Sewer Expo. Mayor Kandy Damron accepted the award for the Town as Mayor and Chair of the Talala Public Works Authority (TPWA).
The recognition came after years of systematic inspection and grant-funded rehabilitation of aging collection lines — not a one-off plaque. TPWA used OMAG SL-RAT acoustic surveys in 2022 and 2023, along with recurring CCTV inspection, to find blockages and prioritize work, then paired those findings with state and federal small-community wastewater funding to rehab lines a segment at a time.
For the Town, the award was statewide peer recognition that a small community’s sewer work was being done the right way: public proof that inspection plus targeted rehab was improving the system for residents, and momentum to keep pursuing grants and improvements.
